Christmas Cheer

December 18, 2010
The holidays are a fun, happy time of year, unless you have annoying family like mine!  Good things can still come out of the holidays though.  About 2 weeks ago my trainer offered me another horse to show over winter, and she is letting me train one of the two year olds at the barn!  Its so exciting, the horse I am getting to ride in named Reno, and he is a huge beautiful black horse that is a super star! :) The filly that I am getting to train is a cute little bay, and she is just the sweetest thing ever!  She is very cute, and so smart, if I had the money I would buy her myself!
The sad part is that I am thinking about selling my horse, Moe, who I have had for 8 years, since he was 4 months old.  I raised him, and trained him almost all by myself until last spring.  It will be really hard to say goodbye, but sometimes you need to let go so that you can move on to bigger and better things.
I hope that the holidays find you all well, and that you all have a wonderful time even with the annoying family!!

XOXO

Mr. Dino

October 29, 2010
Some of you may know that I have a beautiful red dun paint with zebra stripes.  He hasn't been worked with in a few years because I didn't have the time while I was working with Moe, doing school work, and then working with Bill.  I just started lunging him last week, and he is just a doll!  He gets confused easily, but he is so sweet, and tries so hard when you work with him.  This weekend, I'm planning on lunging him under saddle for the first time in years, and I'll see how he takes it.  H...

Winter

October 29, 2010
The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder, so we all need to prepare for winter!  I have kept my horses at home almost every year during winter, and I give them some much needed time off during the rainy season.  So here are some tips and tricks that I use when keeping my guys at home.

1- Make sure you either have a stall or a open shed connected to their corral so that they can stay out of the rain.
2- Make sure your blankets are water proof, if you put a blanket on that i...

Horse Show Girls + Clothes = Crystals!!

September 15, 2010
As many know, horse show girls love their sparkles, glitter, and crystals!  I must say that I am no exception to the rule, to me, the more sparkle on a show shirt, the better!  Sometimes these shirts can cost a fortune (if its a Berry Fit or Showtime for example), and I have a few tips to keep the cost down.

First- Don't underestimate the power of Ebay.  My black and purple horsemanship shirt (which you can see in the gallery) was custom made from a lady off of Ebay, and it was only $150 where...

Para-Dressage in the World Equestrian Games

September 7, 2010
There is a woman competing in the games named Laura Goldman, and unfortunately her funds are running a little short for the games.  She needs to come up with about $5000 to cover the costs of competing at the World Equestrian Games, and she just doesn't have the money.  They are reaching out to all of the kind souls out there that love horses and support para equestrians to donate just a few dollars to help get this great lady to the WEGs.  This link has a post about it, and can give you more...

Gold-n-Grand was a ton of fun, and our barn came away with a bunch of prizes.  I got a belt buckle of Horsemanship, and everyone else got at least one buckle.  V won a saddle along with a bunch of buckles, Lise won a saddle and so did Kathrine.  So it was a very successful weekend!
They also had this class which was free style trail, and it was hilarious.  Lise told us 30 minutes before the class that we had to turn one of her bay horses into a black Cadillac, and another horse got his mane ...

Workin My Ass Off

August 19, 2010
The time is finally here for Gold-N-Grand!  The show that I have been working up to for the whole summer!  Moe left for the show grounds on Monday night, and tomorrow morning I will be joining him out at Rancho Murieta.  I can't wait to see him again, and ride him tomorrow, I really hope that he acts good!  Moe is such a little bugger sometimes, he will be perfect one day, and a complete ass the next, he is so odd.  I just hope that this weekend he acts good because it would suck to have all ...

Pattern Time!

July 29, 2010
Today Moe and I worked on patterns, and it was very interesting to say the least.  We worked on horsemanship first, and he is good at doing patterns, but he always takes advantage and puts his head up.  I learned some important little tidbits on my position while doing the pattern too.  I never noticed, but I tend to keep my legs just a little to far out in front of me, and my arm is just a little to high.  Hopefully this will help for when we show at Gold-N-Grand next month!!!

We also did s...

The Wonders Of The Internet

July 25, 2010
Awhile back on youtube.com, one of my friends suggested a video for me to watch, and it was really cool!  I love music, and I love when artists do new and interesting videos.  They don't have to be a giant production, just something heartfelt.  Often times what touches us the most is not all of the pomp, but just the simple meaning laid bare for all to see.

Anyways, away from my philosophical mumblings, there is this video by Ian Axel, called This Is The New Year.  I really love this video b...

Some People Shouldn't Drive

July 22, 2010
I was driving home yesterday, and there was this guy that turned on to the same road as me.  At first I didn't think anything of it, he was a good distance away.  When I looked back up into my mirror just about half a minute later, he was about a foot off my bumper, and there was a stop sign ahead so he couldn't pass me.  Feeling kind of evil I went really slow after the stop sign and he was still following me.  I usually go about 5 over the speed limit, but this time I was about 5 under.  Th...
